If you’ve never had a Brazilian wax before, you might be nervous or scared, which is totally normal! As a client, you’re putting your trust in our services to keep you safe, healthy, and happy. MKP Waxing Salon is here to ensure that your trust isn’t wavered — even during the most delicate of services. Clean. Condition. Remove. Restore. We have developed the MKP Method with you in mind. Our goal is for each and every client to leave in comfort and walk out pretty. This goes beyond simple hair removal, we strive for total body wellness care.

To calm your nerves before your first Brazilian waxing appointment we have put together a list of tips that will help you prepare for a smooth wax that will leave you feeling refreshed, clean, and happy.

Tip 1: Grow your Hair

As with any other wax, you need your hair to be grown out for at least two weeks. However, each person’s hair grows at a different rate. We recommend your hair be grown to a ¼ of an inch before coming for your wax appointment. Allowing your hair to grow out before you get a wax enables the wax to grab your hair from the roots and leave no strays behind. If your hair is too short the wax will not be productive. Please avoid trimming if you feel the hair is too long, you could potentially trim too short leaving you with only irritated skin and remaining stubble.

Tip 2: Be Smart About Scheduling your Wax

If you’re waxing for an upcoming beach trip, you want to make sure you schedule your wax accordingly. While getting a Brazilian wax removes hair, it may irritate the skin. If you are a woman who tends to have sensitive skin it could take up to three days for your symptoms to reside. Keep in mind if you do wax the day of a pool or beach day, chlorine and saltwater could harm your already frustrated skin. To best avoid pain or reddening of the skin, try and schedule your Brazilian wax at least three days out from any special events.

Tip 3: Working Out Before a Wax

If you are a lady that likes to work out, it’s best that you wake up early to get your cardio session in before your appointment. When you exercise you sweat. When you sweat your skin counts on your hair to absorb that sweat. Your pores are left open and vulnerable after your wax becoming a breeding ground for irritation and potential infections. We recommend a cooler shower and avoiding sweat, saunas and scented body products for 24 hours after any wax!

Tip 4: Waxing while on your cycle?

When scheduling your Brazilian wax try to plan around your period. It is recommended that you do not schedule a wax 5 days before or 5 days after your cycle. When on your menstrual cycle your skin can be much more sensitive causing a more intolerable wax. This isn’t always true for everyone and it is possible to wax while on your cycle. If you are comfortable our wax artists are more than happy to make sure you are taken care of. For more ease and comfort plan around your period!

Tip 5: Research & never fear to ask questions

If you’ve scheduled a Brazilian wax you most likely know what the waxing job entails, but if you’re still in the dark it’s time to be enlightened. A Brazilian wax removes all hair around your private areas. Nothing stays though this can be customized to your liking if you are someone who prefers some hair left. Bear in mind this will lead to some personal space invasions. We promise to make the experience as comfortable and as non-formal as possible; we understand this is a vulnerable time.

Getting your first Brazilian can be scary and we understand that! At MKP Waxing salon you are in excellent, professionally trained hands.
