Clients are always asking us which of our waxing methods they should choose. So we have taken it upon ourselves to describe each method to help you decide which option is best for you! If you are still unsure about which will work best for your skin and hair type, feel free to schedule any of the methods, and then discuss your needs with your Wax Artist!

Hard Wax

The most traditional method of hair removal, Hard Wax is applied to the hair, allowed to set, and then removed without strips. We recommend Hard Wax for clients with coarser hair types, or if your hair is more fully grown in at the time of your service.

Pros:

  • Better for times when hair is more fully grown in.
  • More gentle than soft wax which may be used at other salons.
  • Better for coarser hair types.

Cons:

  • More likely to irritate more sensitive skin types.

Strip Sugar

Somewhere between the Hard Wax method and the Sugaring method, the Strip Sugar method uses our sugaring product like regular wax. Our sugar product is applied to the hair and removed with a strip. This method is believed to be the “least uncomfortable” method of hair removal, but it is not the right fit for everyone! In particular, if you naturally perspire during your service, the sugar cannot stick to the hair properly and will be ineffective for hair removal.

Pros:

  • A more natural product.
  • Considered to be “less uncomfortable.”
  • Less likely to irritate more sensitive skin types.

Cons:

  • Does not work as well on coarser hair types.
  • Does not work well on clients that naturally perspire during their service.

Sugaring

Sugaring is an ancient method of hair removal that has started to regain popularity in recent years. Also known as the “paste ball method,” a ball of our natural sugar product is applied to the hair, by hand, against the direction of natural hair growth. The sugar is then removed in the same direction your hair grows. This reduces the likelihood of hairs breaking, instead of being completely removed from the root.

Pros:
  • A more natural product.
  • Best for clients who struggle with ingrown hairs.

Cons:

  • Does not work well on clients that naturally perspire during their service.
  • Considered to be “more uncomfortable” for the first sugaring service. Comfort level should improve significantly if you are sugared every 3 weeks!
